As they say -  very cool!  I was a spectator at this race - on my way to CA.  Can-Am race was also this wknd.  On the Monday there was a Firestone test day at the
track with Mario driving, and I got a ride from the track to Las Vegas in a real 289 Shelby street Cobra

No, Mario was testing tires, and there was a guy watching who owned the Cobra, and he gave me the ride into town.
