crayon marking on the lower fender extensions ?

So recently a guy posted pics of taking his 69Z apart, and the was the letter "G" in crayon on the inside of the lower fender extension. While looking for an explanation for this one person suggested the G stood for Z/28, as it is a G on the broadcast copy under the engine RPO 11, and the G was to let them know where to punch the fender for emblems.
Now it appears that the lower fender extensions were painted independent of the fenders, so why would they put a G on the lower part?

I appreciate any insight to this, and if his expanation of being a Z/28 is a good one, and if this is discussed anywhere else on the CRG that I could not find, or in a research article. thanks

Not wasting, just another resource for the 69Z . I thought it was a valid question for the group, unless posted somewhere on the CRG that I did not see.

I think there is a thread over at the Yenko site discussing this.

Sounds totally illogical. More facebook fodder in my opinion. Could just indicate that it should be painted gold.

Here are the ones I have seen on original unrestored cars
G on plain Z28
GM on z28 with style trim
GR on Z28 ralley sports
427 on copo's without style trim
427M on x11 copo
6R seen on 396 RS

Stay away from FB as it'll enlarge your amygdala...  I've read some of the comments in some of those "groups"..

Thanks Cook. that was a good read on the Yenko site, and it seems the data correlates to what James posted that G was for the Z/28. I will have to look under my red 69 and see if I can make out anything. Gary anything on your 69Z?

As far as FB goes. it is a crap shoot. I am part of a 69Z group, and try to steer it in the right direction, hence trying to provide a good explanation for the question.

X33 and not a rally sport correct?

IF so this would be another data point towards confirming the M stood for style trim.
