Hello all, I am trying to assemble the horn button and contacts in my 67 steering wheel.
Once I install everything and put power to it the horn goes off. It seems when I put it together it completes the circuit and beeps.
Does anybody have any diagrams or pictures on how it goes together. Also is there suppose to be any plastic insulators in there somewhere to keep it from making contact until you hit the button? Any help is appreciated. its a regular wheel , not the woodgrain
Thanks
Mike

Check your AIM, UPC 12, C2, Pg 176 for the standard wheel. Sorry I can't help more, but I have a RS with the shroud type wheel. If you don't have an AIM, there's a free download under the General discussions forum.

you may be installing the screws holding the spring loaded contact too far, making the contact all the time, rather than just when the horn button/ring is pushed??

Here are some pics. It seems there should be something in there to keep it from grounding out.
I check the AIM and it does not show the actual switch assembly... Or at least where I can find it.
Thank you all again

Is the ivory plastic insulator ring installed under the steel disc?? I can't tell from that photo.

There is no plastic insulator. Where does it go and what does it look like?

You may want to also download the 67 chassis service manual.  I think it may show the steering wheel assembly in better detail than the AIM

I have all three books and none of them show the horn contact assembly , cut away, or explosion diagram

Have you tried going to the Team Camaro site, enter the Electrical and Wiring section of the forums, and running a search using key words?  There is a "Search This Forum" drop-down menu on  the right side of the page.  I've got the walnut wheel and my car is several states away in storage.

See the ring in the following link? It isolates the spring steel disc. http://www.ss396.com/camaro/IHC-KITX.html

X2  There is a small plastic ring that insultes the spring plate from the wheel's center hub - it looks like yours is missing in action. The part is hard to see in the link sent, but look closely and you will see it around the metal spring plate. Hope this helps.

Yes I see it behind the black spring plate. Mine did not come with it. I think I have a piece of thin plastic to make out of.
I will let you all know if it works.
THANK YOU!

Apparently I did not need the plastic backing. The kit came with everything I needed. All improper installation. I took the car over to a friend who runs a restoration shop and he showed me how to put it in. All installed and beeping!
Thank you all again!

I am a member of Classic Camaro of Central Fl.  I guess I started some discussion on the plastic ring. If was part of the deluxe wheel vs. the standard wheel.
