OK GUYS; What is the best camshaft to replace the old Duntov 30/30 cam? Either flat or roller, keep in mind I'm trying to stay close to the original specs of the 30/30. Anything to 'lookout' for? This is for a 68 Z/28 302 original engine.

Just had my original engine resleeved and put a Comp-Cam 12-107-3 in it. I will double check the number but I think that is the correct #

LT-1 cam or the Crane F-278-2. I now run the Crane.

Most other cams have either too narrow a lobe center line or are too big on duration for a small solid lifter application. Especially true with the stock exhaust manifolds and full exhaust.

Both are an improvement in driveabillty and neither is detectable as "modified" at idle. There IS a difference when you leave from a stop and it is all good.

I am not sure about that LT1 cam but I have 2 68Zs with the cam in I mentioned and if a guy knows how to tune the car that cam works great.

Federal-Mogul/Speed-Pro makes a blueprint duplicate of the "30-30" cam; #CS-118R for the cam only, #KC-118R for the kit (cam and lifters). GM used to carry the kit as P/N 12364052, and Crane made it for them - Crane also sold the cam only as their #967251, but they're out of business.
