That puzzled me as well.

I saw the document that said it was an Official Car but not a festival car. I didn't know there were official cars.

It was at the Speedway during the race making it a 'Festival' car.
Learning more and more about less and less...

From the Z11 Report:

Introduction
The 1969 Camaro was chosen as the Official Pace Car for the 1969 running of the Indianapolis 500 and as the Official Car of the '500' Festival. This was a repeat performance for Camaro since it had also been chosen as the 1967 Pace Car.
To help them stand out on the large expanse of track, the 1969 pace cars were designed to be visible: Dover White RS/SS convertibles with Hugger Orange Z28 style stripes and orange houndstooth cloth seats. All were equipped with the recently released fresh air hood (aka: cowl hood).

I thought the festival cars were actually on the track and got the gold festival sticker. From what I've read the "Official cars" were used to transport people around the city and not actually on the track for the festival.

I bought my 1969 (LOS) Pacer in 1984 when they were giving them away. I was really freaked out in Nov 1984 when one of the Very few references we had claimed ALL Pacers Had to be stamped Z11 on the Tag and should have Orange Sun Visors.  I was thinking What the Heck. The Hobby has come a long way and the Plank owners (Navy Speak for Originator and Custodians) of this Site are Awesome. I am still learning and usually get myself into trouble via the Keyboard. We are fans and this should be fun as it is.

I am still Pissed I paid 6,800.00$ for a Pacer! When I should have Bought Seattle Microsoft Stock during its initial public offering.

The Car in the Original Link looks Cool in my view.

Cheers & Beers,

This was not a festival car. Those cars were used in the parade, etc.
This car was an official car, used by the USAC who helped put on the race.

I kinda doubt that's the original engine. Axle has been replaced.
