Replacing the oil pump on my 69 Z. Years ago I purchased the current one from GM. What is a suitable replacement currently available? I've been looking at the Melling M55A. Thanks

GM used a standard volume, high pressure pump but they are now discontinued.

Melling started thinning the amount of iron used in the standard castings so their standard pumps will not be suitable for a SHP engine - the castings can crack with high loads, RPM or solid motor mounts.  You could spring 3 times as much $$$ for the Melling high performance line, standard volume, high pressure pump OR you can just get a Melling oil pump rebuild kit that comes with all new internals and both the standard pressure spring and the high pressure spring then put that into a good old heavy used GM casting.  I just did that.  Blueprint the clearances and run it.

Thanks my castings are not serviceable. I'll have to go another direction.

Thanks that looks like it might be a good choice. Little spendy but its a pretty important part.

I just ordered the Milodon #18756 based on the info. on this site since it is a high pressure standard volume similar to the original Z-28 pumps along with the 55-S1 pickup and 23050 shaft which are supposed to fit the factory pans and I spoke to Summits tech support to verify.
