Anyone know what the diameter of the alternator pulley is/should be for an L34/L35 application ('68)?

Kevin,

Sorry it took so long, it's 2.750" in diameter.  Stamped steel pulley........silver cad in color.

Kurt,

There is no alternator pulley information on this spread sheet for 1968 L34 and L35 engines.  This is a single shallow-groove pulley.  Only one shown on the chart is the one that I have listed in my Z28 Camaro book for Z28 and L78.

The pulley isn't listed in the yearly charts because it's part of the alternator assembly and not called out for in the Assembly Manual so we don't have a part number.

If you look at the pulley chart sheet with all pulleys listed, there is a note at the end that says all 68 standard pulleys are stamped with a 7. I have several 1100794 alternators and all have this pulley. I also have a couple other 68 alternators with the same pulley.

So are all Alterantor pullys silver cad?  I had previously thought it was only the Z alternator pullys that were silver...

Jerry,
Thanks for pointing that out. I've overlooked that major detail is missing. The pulley is the same basic one used in many applications. We should be able to figure out the # and add it to the table.

Flowjoe,

Yes, all of the alternator pulleys used for 1st gen Camaros were silver cad.  Same for the alt fan in 68 and 69 but in 67, many (if not all, I'd have to check my notes) of the alternator fans were painted semi gloss black.

GM sold service pulleys for many years that were gold cad for some reason or another.  Haven't figured that out yet.
