Ideas on Re-habing a fuse box

The tin-zinc coating is flaking off of the fuse connectors. I soaked it in evapo-rust which clean up the rusty areas ,but the flaking is still there. I thought about removing the contacts from the box and glass beading them, but when all's said and done I have bare metal and no corrosion protection. It's not practical to spray the fuse box every couple weeks with WD-40. Any ideas? A new harness is $415, I could spend that on other parts. Thanks

This thread may help.
My reply #12 shows a reproduction panel I used to replace the worn one and still used the original harness.

Mike, that is great info. I was using the google machine and found a article in Hemming's that listed 10 or so vendors that built harnesses. I called 4 companies on the list, none of them would sell a fuse-box or offer another option. Limited was on the list, but I didn't call them. Guess I gave up to early.

Looking at the pictures, I'm assuming you were able to remove the connectors to crimp and re-install them? What did you use for a crimping tool? Did you consider soldering them after crimping. One of my weaknesses is over-kill. Thanks Paul

I used a crimper my son-in-law uses. He is an electrician but he got it from Home Depot. I removed the flasher crimped terminals and installed on the new panel.

Fuse box has been ordered, ships in about 10 days. On to something else on the never ending list. Thanks again Mike S

You can remove the fuse terminals from the box and replate them with ZINC.
