69 RS reverse lights install question

I'm getting ready to cut my tail panel and wanted to find out from the people that have already done it.
My GM original reverse lights have two lower mounting screws but the top only has a stud on one side but I see the pics show 2 holes for the top mount.
So is it correct that the assembly is only held on by the two screws?

Here are photos of the factory reverse lights and cutouts (press stamped actually) from my (former) 1969 RS/Z28. You'll note the cutouts include holes for two locating bosses cast into the back of the RS backup light as well as for 2 screws that thread into clips as shown. The cutouts on reproduction tail pans are not true to the originals and I've not seen these clips reproduced in this style. Also note the location of the grommet hole for the electrical wire "Measure twice cut once"!

If your X66 car is what you're doing this to, RS wasn't available on the X66 trim. I would've needed to be a X22. I only mention this because years later I'm trying to undo all the RS pieces from mine.......but it's your car....Joe

Don't we all want what we haven't got?  :)

Yep. When I first did mine in 1981, it was about options. PW, am/fm, rosewood, spoilers, Ducted hood, RS, front antenna, JL8. Now it's about putting it back to "as new" condition...Joe

Yes it's a X66 but it's going to be a X22 for a little while  ;)

The lamps are the same as 1968-1972 Chevrolet and GMC pickup Bedlamps located on the curve in the center on the top of the back of the cab.
