Been looking for an 814 alternator and found this one.

Do the stampings look good on this?

Does this look like a real deal or a good restamp?

No expert here but nice restamp to me.

Tough to tell. The only detraction to me is the different stamp depths, but otherwise I would use it. Creeping 814's are worse than 837's to find -

I too am no expert. But if I had to guess I would say no go. It should have MORE depth difference in stamp. If I remember correctly they ROLL the stamp on. So it is supposed to be inconsistent in depth. But always fun to learn. I wonder why there is pretty significant casting damage on the other side of the center? Danny

Here's a genuine 814 I sold recently. Look carefully at the sityle and spacing of the digits in '1100814'.

Is there a larger photo of the stamp?

EDIT:

Was able to blow it up enough.  Restamp.

I agree with Darrel but it is good. If right price and date I would use it.

Thanks

I figured it was a restamp.

The date code is right for mine.

What's a fair value to pay for it? Seller is asking 850 for it

I saw that alternator on ebay because I ws cleaning my 1100814 and saw a crack so I went hunting.hell yes $850 is to much but supply and demand.....................

If the ebay seller is in TN or Angola IN, and has plenty of other items that "have been in storage 40 years", then I would suggest best avoided.

Careful, Tim - us Tennessee boys stick together - ask Cook. I do know who you are referring to, though - lol.

I'd say it's a dang good restamp if it is one - the depth, font and spacing mirror the original that was sold earlier.

I'd have no problem using it, but would prefer some kind of documentation for that wad of pesos -
