I have a chance to buy a tilt column out of a 69 Z28 with the key. What is it worth?  Thanks

$200-$450 depending on condition and completeness.  I costs around $250 to have them rebuilt.

Careful here. There are several swap meet pirates selling made-over tilt columns as '69s.

Virtually dozens of GM tilt columns made well into the '70s were the same length and will physically fit a '69. The main difference is the locking lever at the base of the column; '69 seems to be a one-year only style and if the column is not a '69 you will end up having to make it work. Also be sure to get the flange that adapts the column to the rag joint. The standard '69 column has an integral flange welded to the lower shaft; tilts have a splined shaft for a separate flange.

I do know this column . It was taken out of the Z in 1975. The car was hit in the rear. Still have the finders , doors, wiring, some gages, and the title.  The car was huger orange.       Thanks.

A rebuilt tilt column with the correct flange costs $310.00 from "Ricks First Generation".  I wouldn't pay much more than half that even if it does have the tumbler and key.  A new lock set for the doors and the column is only $29.95 from Ricks and they will match.

My tilt steering came from a 67 or 68 firebird it cost me 50.00 dollars `cause I had to remove it myself, and I did had to change the locking lever I use the one from my original column.
