3/8 Fuel Line
« on: July 04, 2010, 03:40:01 AM »
OK, so by my registered name you can see that I am a Mopar guy. My first car however was a 69 Z/28 many moons ago. I have recently purchased a 69 Camaro for my son, it is a verified RS and a reputed SS car. The TT reads 718 interior and a beleive 52 paint and X11. Documenting/verifying Camaros isn't as easy as Mopars thats for sure. My VIN is 124379N566322. I have 3 questions, is there any history int he data base on this car? Is there a centralized historic society for GM that might have info? and it has a factory 3/8 fuel line, does this mean anything?

Thanks in advance, Kevin

Kevin,
RS - you looked at: http://www.camaros.org/options.shtml#rs?

All V8's had the 3/8 line. Some had a return also. Being an X11, that makes it likely to be a 307 or L65 (350ci/250hp). An SS350 would have 2 lines. http://www.camaros.org/diffs69.shtml

No, nothing in the db on your car. And no records at GM.... :(

12C scheduled build date, so LF7, LM1 or L48 car??? Car has power disc, rally stripes and a 4 speed factory best we can tell.

Only pace cars and Z/28s had ralley stripes from the factory. If the tranny is original it should have the partial VIN stamped on it. Is it a Muncie?
Gary

Lemans Blue X33. DZ, M20, manual steering. Only BU code rear end is original.

No running gear in it. As far as the stripes, its 40 years and 2 or 3 paint jobs so I could be mistaken on that. It also has a cowl hood which I have read wasn't available until 12E and it appears to have original paint, there is also no hole above the fuse box (the rally hole and grommet is there) so it was an early add on, maybe it got the stripes at that time. Was the outside stripe paint or tape originally?

What are all the possible locations of the build sheets located on GMs?

Read this past information on built sheets.

I knew it was posted before so I did a search and found it.

It has the 5.75 inch ptitman arm and factory disc brakes. The rear suspension is very obviously not original to the car.

Thanks again for the info so far.

My bad! You posted the VIN and that puts it squarely in December.
With only one fuel line, it has to be a 327 car originally. The LM1 or L48 would have had two fuel lines.

The only other motors that used the single fuel line would have a different X-code on the tag.

THank you, that is what I needed to know. I will double check the single fuel line to be sure next or week or so. I am going to catch a plane right now, going to Carlisle fro the Mopar show on Saturday and wont be back til Sunday noon and leaving for Raliegh next Monday morning.

Thanks again, Kevin

So we have come to the conclusion that I have a one of none, 69 RS/SS 427 aluminum headed small block 4 speed, 12 bolt 4.56 Burger King Camaro! Should be a blast to build and even more fun to drive.

Thanks again, Kevin

No doubt, very cool, but I told myself years ago if I ever built another SB Chevy it would be a 400. Cubes rule.
