68 396 on ebay
« on: August 06, 2022, 04:43:34 AM »
Still as rookie at spotting the fakes, but I’m not sold on the TT, as I don’t see any number in the upper right corner. I leave it to the keener eyes, but also the pad looks suspect as well as I see….well….I have no actual clue if they are legit. Pics included, link as well.
Chime in please.

Both are legit, sir. :) http://www.camaros.org/forum/index.php?topic=20158.0 Too bad it's so CRUSTY, eh!

I guess you're referring to the scheduling code (upper right corner) associated with LOS (Van Nuys) built 68's...http://camaros.org/numbers.shtml#CowlTag Norwood built doesn't have that code.

Very interesting. Old muscle is still hiding in obscure barns, buildings and etc.!

I know the car. The engine was never out of the car. It was never apart and never raced. The original owner towed the car with his motor home when he went on trips. The only thing I know that was changed on the car was the rear gears. The car was originally a 4:56 car. It has all of the paperwork including Bill of sale and POP.

I’m sure  Bob at camaro Specialties knows what he has and that it is legit, he would not misrepresent anything  …..and of course as always wants top buck for it.

The whole diff was swapped not just the gears.  Refer to my comment on the original thread linked above.

I was not aware of the entire rear being changed. I am positive the engine and trans are original and have not been out of the car.

I agree with that part of your statement.  I can't confirm 100% that they've never been out but it wouldn't surprise me if they haven't.
