Help me find out if my 1969 Z 28 is real

Hi II am new to this forum, Thanks for having me!!  I have just purchased a 69 Z28  all documentation says it is real, but how do I really know??   My car was made the first week in January 1969 in LA.  Any help would be appreciated!

You could start by posting photos of the documentation you have.  Experts on this site can tell if it is real.

Thanks guys!!  I just brought it up from Florida and I hve put it in storage since we still have snow on the ground here in Wisconsin. I will post some pics I have.  Would a vin # help??

Being an LA car, pictures of your engine pad stamp and as Paul mentioned, pictures of your documents are the best way to verify it as an original Z.

Don't be afraid of posting here - the extreme and vast majority of people that watch and comment on this site are here to help, and not to disparage your car. I've visited other sites over the years where that's not always the case. You'll get what you look and ask about a very high percentage of the time, with fair and honest opinions from just about everyone. I've owned a Z for a long time, and I still learn something about it constantly from the topics and postings here. That's what this forum is known for, in my opinion (for what it's worth).

You've got enough '69 Z owners, experts and aficionados represented here to dissect any feature on the car, start to finish. That being said, when you post your documentation please remember that you'll get a pretty firm opinion of validity, so be prepared for it.

Seriously though, your pics look good. Yes a vin will help, as well as a pic of the firewall tag, and a pic of the DZ motor stamp, and, as mentioned before, any docs you might have received with the car.
 There are a couple small things that could be changed (to be more factory correct), but all in all the car looks real nice so far.

Thanks so much guys! Very much appreciate all the help! Also another CRG member does not live to far from me, would like to come see the car. We are excited to meet him.  This is a numbers matching car.  vin is  124379L514855. Built in Los Angeles,  14,855th car built that year.  This car was built the first week of January and the motor was built the 3rd week.
Engine block # 3956618 original DZ 302 block, balanced and bluprinted.  Intake manifold#  3932472 original snowflake manifold.
carbureter # 3923289-dz (original 4 bbl holley for a 69 z -28
cylinder Heads # 3927186 2.02/1.60 double hump correct for z-28
Transmission muncie M-21 close ratio 4 speed with correct hurst shutter
12 bolt rear with 3.73 positraction
93,604 documented miles
This is what I know.  The car came with a big box of documents and 60  pictures of all numbers and speedo. I am pretty sure this is the real deal.

"This car was built the first week of January and the motor was built the 3rd week."

That raises a flag / question. It should be the other way around. The engine cast and assembly date should be before the car build date, not after.

Got any pictures of that engine pad stamp?

Post a picture of the numbers and letters stamped in front of the passenger side cylinder head when you have time.  You might need to remove the alternator to get a good pic.

Based on a December 31 1968 final LA VIN L513817, a January 31 1969 final LA VIN L520247 and 22 working days, this car was built the 3-4 working days into January 1969; January 6-7...early second week.

I look forward to seeing stamps & casting dates...
