1969 Camaro Heater Control Back Light - Green or White?

Hey guys,

What is the correct back light color of the heater control lens for a 69 Camaro?  I believe my Camaro is an untouched original and still has the original heater lens.  However, the back lighting on this is white and not green like the rest of the dash.  Is this correct?  What is the back light color supposed to be?

Thanks,

Steve

I'm pretty sure it should be green. Novas were white some years. I had a service replacement that was white. It's the lens that makes the green tint.

Been there, done that.
There's a little piece of green plastic that's supposed to cover the light. It fell out when someone put it back together.
I have never fixed mine - I should find that little green piece first.....

Kurt,

this is probably what is wrong with my car.  I have seen the green tinted lenses, but since I am almost positive my lens is original, that there must be another reason it was not green other than a wrong lens.  What and where does this green plastic cover look like and go?  Maybe I can find one or make one so that it lights up and matches the rest of the dash.

Can someone advise me where the heater control lamp in inserted? is it on top of the heater control box?  What is the best way to get access...by removing the ash tray?...thanks

I think the lamp plugs in on the lower right hand side... not very far under the lip of the instrument panel.  I'm not sure where a green lens would go, but the letters for the heater control panel are 'tinted a light green'...?

Does anyone have a pic of what this green lens is supposed to look like?  My original lens is white and looks out of place when lit up next to the green gauges and green radio.  Was this green lens or bulb cap cover used in any other car other than Camaro?

Sounds like it could be a hard piece to find. Maybe an easier solution to get the correct illumination again is to buy a green LED replacement bulb from https://www.superbrightleds.com
I believe the original heater control bulb was number 1895, should be able to find an equivalent cross-match with the right bayonet style in green.

so, it's not a green bulb or type of cover, it's a green strip on the end of the lens.  Will have to check mine out and see what I have there, as mine shows a white light. not green.

Thanks.

Mine is the same way. Pulled apart the dash to fix the wiper mount and a little green piece of plastic was on the floor. Huh, wonder where.... Found out when I turned on the lights.
When I see it next, I'll take a pic. I *think* I stored it in the console...

Guys the black tape shown in the picture covers the green lens and helps keep it in place, check to see if yours is missing.
