What's interesting is the transmission code (G) is for a 396/265 from a full size passenger car with a 2.29 axle! The Camaro L35 Turbo 400 code is a C. However, since they also built the full size cars at Van Nuys, this is probably your typical "not paying attention" POP mistake.

Kurt's going to want to add this to the database, so can you let us know who the selling dealer was?

Thanks

Ed

Ed...I meet this guy at the SW Muscle Car Nationals and I said I would give him a hand decoding this. If you can...please shed more light on this G=396/265 & the 400 code E. The guy says its a 396/325HP  ???

Here ya go Ed/Kurt...

Thanks, and yes, it's an L35 (396/325), not an L34. I mis-typed! But remember, I am NEVER wrong! (Once I thought I was but I was mistaken.)

;D

The transmssion codes for the Turbo 400 were used to indicate what model car it was installed in. C would be a Turbo 400 installed in a 69 Chevelle or Camaro with an L35 engine. G is for a full size car with a 396/265 (and a 2.29:1 axle). There were others as well:

A - 396/325 or 396/265 in a full size passenger car
B - 427/390 in a full size passenger car
C - as above
D - 350/250 or 327/235 in a full size passenger car
E - 396/350 in a Chevelle, Nova or Camaro
etc...
