Not in a Trans-Am race, looks like a '68 at Mutsu Bay Japan, circa 1970.

Jon any ideas ?

I believe this to be the Bob West '69 ? ? as in post #340 above by Jon at Laguna, this one is labelled as Sebring '69, looks like a

banking in the distance, maybe Daytona ?  are those California tags on the street cars ? ? I'm not sure where it is ?

Mike

Mike,

More than likely it was taken at Ontario Motor Speedway in 1970.  Daytona doesn't have the infield parking like that.

Thought this was a cool picture of Mark and the Sunoco Camaro hauler.  It was taken at Riverside during the 1968 Mission Bell 250 Trans Am weekend.  Race car driver, engineer and truck driver, LOL!

Found it at the Petersen Digital Archives

Is there a thread here for Camaros in races other than Trans-Am ?

Couldn't find a spot for this unidentified one at the first regional at Road Atlanta, August 1970.

Jon ?

Mike,

That appears to be one of the Bruce Behrens racing team cars that raced in the Trans-Am series in 1969.  Vince Gimondo and Mike Brockman were the drivers.  This would seem to be the Brockman car.  There is a thread for A/Sedan cars here also but this photo is just fine right where you posted it.  Thanks.

1967 Paul Revere 250 color images posted recently by Harry Hurst via Facebook 2022

Car #68 is the Camaro of Bill Boye. This is its first racing appearance and it is one of the two "Stormer" Z-28s built by Yenko Chevrolet.

Photo taken on the streets of London, April 1967. This is the "sister car" to the Dana Camaro
driven by Dick Guldstrand. It was built at the same time by Bobby Joe McDonald at Dana Chevrolet
and it was driven by car owner and driver Thomas F. Lynch. It ran as car #28 at Sebring and then
left immediately afterward to race in England and Europe over the summer and then returned
Stateside to race in the Las Vegas 350 Trans-Am in the fall of '67. Raced by Tom in Trans-Am thru 1969.

Absolutely Fascinating photo ! I am always on the look out for period photos of Camaros in England, but sadly, few seem to exist.

Jon would know for sure but it looks like the 1967 Camaro (vent window wings) Rusty Jowett destroyed at Watkins Glen in 1968.  He then obtained the #92 red 1968 Camaro that still exists today and races with the Historic Trans Am.

Such a bummer that Rusty's '67 was destroyed like that.
