What is the difference between the left side V8 and Z/28 plug wire stands?

My only understanding was the stamping on the Z28 and the color.  Z28 painted orange and the low po were black?

The repro suppliers have  different parts . One looks curved and one does not.

The original support was curved - good photos of it on page 76 and 90 in Jerry's book.

The ones on page 76 are 1967-68 parts, I believe. The ones on page 90 are a straight on shot so it is hard to tell how curved and how they differ from the standard V8 parts. Do you have a good pic of original? Thanks.

Thanks John...I am curious why there was 2 different ones for 1969 V8s.

I thought the booster hose went thru the hole in the orange bracket - I forgot there was a second bracket. Was that hole (in the wire stand) just used on some models?

My (2) Pace Cars (350CI) have a metal tube with the hose for the booster going thru the orange wire bracket.
My Z's booster hose uses the long silver bracket.

So were these wire stands Z/28 only??

Yes, there is a seperate Z/28 bracket. Z/28 had a seperate hose bracket as Kurt said. The hole was there for all brackets. The Z/28 and V8 model brackets were different somehow.

If you look in the Assembly Manual (section J50, sheet A4), you'll see the "straight" plug wire support bracket used on all small-blocks except Z/28, the Z/28 hose bracket, and the big-block pipe/support arrangement.

My guess is that the curve gives more room to get the valve cover off for lashing. The vacuum tube inside the bracket would aggravate the situation. Thanks John.

I am finding this thread very interesting because I am just starting the restoration of my intake manifold and related parts. Both wire supports were missing and a friend gave me these. I know they are rough, but wanted to know if they were correct before doing any work to them. The car is a 1969 RS/SS 350 (L48) with M38 and no A/C.
