I;m looking at a 69 RS/SS 396. Got a copy of the build sheet back from GM (Canadian car)that decodes the vin as a RS/SS 396, but the trim is supposed to be 79(Ralley Green) & 729 (Ivory Hounds tooth). But The trim tag on the fire wall says Trim 712(standard black) & PNT 71 71(Lemans Blue) Has any one heard of this, where the Build sheet is differant from the trim tag?
Any help would be appreciated ???
Thanks

PS, The date code on the trim tag is 10 C. The date on the build sheet is October 19,1968. Basicly the same date. Sounds weird huh. ???

Do you have a picture of the trim tag?

Maybe they made an error reading the microfiche....

The car does have the black comfortweave in it. Just can't figure out why the GM build sheet says parchment hounds tooth, & Ralley green paint. Doesn't jive with the trim tag on the fire wall. ???
Thanks

That's not a build sheet GM of Canada provided.  They created that from shipping records

QuoteFirst a hello and thank you for allowing me on your forums. As an update, Vintage Vehicle Services at GM of Canada is still here, no problems. We have never offered 'build sheets' nor 'invoices'. As 52chevybob stated above build sheets were used at each work station to identify which parts were supposed to be installed by that worker when the car/truck got to him. They were supposed to be put in the garbage as the next vehicle rolled up, but some folks were lazy and did not want to empty their garbage at days end, so they were stuffed in the car going down the line, the result being a much cleaner work station! As bowtieollie said, we work from a monthly shipping report, transferring the data to GM letterhead, and also providing some technical specifications. We can document back to 1945 on Canadian built or sold cars, so you Chevrolet folks down in the USA have a lot of Canadian built product down there from the 60's and 70's. Feel free to email me if you have questions, or call direct. »george.zapora@cc.gm.ca« and 905-440-7636.

Hi Z71, call it what you want. It still doesn't match the trim tag. One of the two has to be what the car came from the factory with. Has anyone heard of discrepancies like this, or has the vin been changed? If the dates weren't the same, I would be sure the vin was changed.  I have heard of mistakes before. Just not sure how bad. Any input is appreciated.
Thanks

Does the GM Canada paperwork include the vin number? If so does it match your car? If both of these match, could someone have changed the trim tag? Does the car match the trim tag, or the paperwork?

GM Canada will only do a search/Document your Canadian sold Camaro if you send in a VIN #...so, yes the VIN # will be with the documents provided.

I expected it would, and if that is right it would seem to eliminate an error by misreading the micro fiche. Thats is why I asked.
