I am trying to find out what ignition coil came with a October 1968 produced
1969 z/28 camaro. Is it a 293 BR coil or a 298 BR coil.

Thanks for any information.

Non cowl hoods z's I have found 298 and cowl hood cars 270. Your car would have had a 298. There are alway exceptions but that is what I have found.

Be aware that the part numbers shown in the Assembly Manual are for the coil ASSEMBLY, which includes the coil and the mounting bracket (they came from Delco-Remy with the mounting bracket and clamp screw already installed); the coil used with the ZL2 hood had a different ASSEMBLY number because it came with a different mounting bracket (to clear the air cleaner base). I don't have the details handy, but I wouldn't be surprised if the coil itself was the same part number in both applications, with a different ASSEMBLY number due only to the brackets.

The assembly manual calls out for P/N "1115270 Coil Asm RPO L48 & Z28"  I don't know what the P/N's are for this assembly however.  There is some physical difference with the asm, either the coil is shorter or the bracket is at a different angle for the ZL2 option.  I do not have the correct setup for my car(:  If the bracket is different does any have a good source?

John Z is correct.

SB duct hood cars used a coil assembly with the '66-'67 275/327 bracket. It positions the coil at slightly greater angle from vertical to clear the larger ducted hood breather.

Not positive on the Camaro, but the NCRS guide calls out the 1115270 for the '68-'70 Corvette 300 & 350hp engines with point ignition, and that's the number embossed on the coil itself.

298 for the 69 Z/28. Some may of had 293's but depends on who was on the line that day.  Sam
