Question re original tag frames:

I have the (an?) original tag frame that was on my car since before 1976 that I assume is original, BUT it's fairly pitted.   The tag frame was a cheap chrome it appeared, and then had a background color (black), and a 'name' color (white) painted on it.   It doesn't look bad, but it would look much nicer if it was rechromed and repainted..

My question is... Should I restore the tag frame? or leave it as is??

Well if you are presenting your car as original mostly unrestored, why would you restore the frame??

it has perfect patina just the way it is. I would just use some 0000 fine steel wool on the chrome, and run it as is.

I could not believe it, I had a frame hanging on the wall,,,matched the reported dealer! My state records search ended in a dead end in 1975.

Dealer History: Bothell was born in Seattle on March 28, 1930, to the late Howard Sr. and Dorothy Bothell, founders of the Bothell Chevrolet Company in Auburn that later became Bothell Brother's Chevrolet. Bothell and his brother, Howard Bothell Jr., took over the family business, eventually changing the name to Auburn Chevrolet. The brothers sold the family business in 2001. The dealer is still open as Auburn Chevy.

Looking forward to search for many more dealer items at the local swap meets.

Dealer code 784 in zone 3.
Dealer name and location was:

Svanda-Meyer Chevrolet , Inc
Sparta, Illinois

Does anybody have anything like license frames or other merchandise from this dealer?
Searching the net resulted in just the fact that the dealer still exist, just slightly changed the name to Svanda Chevrolet Buick GMC!
...otherwise it's rather empty on the net!

Is there someone living in Sparta, Illinois that could belt a fellow Camaro-owner ....?
