Where are the part #'s listed for parts not shown in the AIM.  There are several assembly procedures and part #'s not shown? A example being the window fuzzies on a 68 RS(which I'm in search of). Quarter glass assemblies how did were they installed? What references did the factory use?
Thanks

JohnZ

Those are "body" parts, which were installed by Fisher Body before Chevrolet got the painted and trimmed body on their side of the plant - that's why they're not shown in the Chevrolet assembly manual - they weren't installed by Chevrolet. In the plants, Fisher Body used O.D. (Operation Description) sheets to build, paint, and trim the body shell, and they have never been released outside GM for reproduction like the Chevrolet assembly manual. A complete book of O.D. sheets is about eight inches thick.

John is there any possibility that they will ever be released for reproduction?
OR is there any way anyone... besides you could get copies?

How do I find the part #'s for the window fuzzies. I have seen NOS ones listed for 68/69 Camaros on E-bay, but I'm not sure if they are for a RS or standard Camaro. Additionally there is the question of the seller being correct on the application.

Tinkerr,

I can look them up in the Parts Manual for you but I need to know if you have Deluxe or Standard interior.

Tinkerr

Ed,

I have a deluxe interior. I'm looking for the interior and exterior fuzzies, including the ones for the quarter windows. Are parts manuals available for purchase ?

Thanks Paul

I doubt if books of O.D. Sheets will ever be released for reproduction; Fisher Body Division was dismembered and disappeared 21 years ago. There may be a set out there in private hands somewhere, but I've never seen one advertised.

Okay Paul, here's the 1968 Camaro Sport Coupe with Deluxe Interior Part Numbers:

Group 10.710 - Strip, Front Door Glass Run Channel

Outer - 7729998 (2 required)
Inner - 7755881 (2 required)

Group 11.015 - Strip, Quarter Window Glass

Outer (Left) - 7725935
Outer (Right) - 7725934
Inner (Left) - 7762327
Inner (Right) - 7762326

Note that the above part numbers are for a 1968 Camaro Sport Coupe with Deluxe Interior. Convertibles with Standard Interior, Convertbles with Deluxe Interior and Sport Coupes with Standard Interior use different part numbers.

As for the P&A (Parts and Accessories Manual), scour ebay and some of the Automotive Book stores like Faxon, Bob Johnson's, Walter Miller, etc... HERE'S A LIST of automotive literature dealers I found online. This should give you a good start!

Be advised that they ARE out there, but hard to find. And expensive when you do find one! My September, 1968 matched set (P&A 34 - "Parts and Accessories Manual" and P&A 25 - "Illustrations and Special Information Manual"), set me back $200.00 several years ago. By now they're probably in the $250.00 EACH range. But the deals are still available. I just purchased a 1969 Camaro and Corvair Preliminary parts Catalog for Canada (P/N X691A) from September, 1968 for $20.00!!

Good luck on your hunt...

There are sets of the Fisher ODs in GM Legal; one of our former members touched them, and copied a few pages and passed a copy to me.  But he wasn't able to get a full set.  (He was distracted by personal issues at the time as well, and I was never clear if he *couldn't* get them, or simply *didn't* get them.)  You have any pull there John?

A good friend of mine retired seven years ago from GM Legal (spent the previous 30 years with Chevrolet Engineering) and was an occasional source for rare Chevrolet drawing, ECR, and Work Order information post-retirement, but since then the "moles" he had at Legal and in the archives have also retired; between that and multiple GM internal reorganizations, those contacts have been lost.

Ed,

Thanks for the numbers. Just wanted to confirm the outers are for a Rally Sport exterior.

Paul,

Yes they are. (I forgot to add that into the description above.)
