Lifetime Warranty on 1968 Camaro

Anyone ever see one of these? It's a Dealer item, one of the extras they sold you:

Never seen that, but did they actually charge extra for that?

It seems it would pay for itself due to clause #2 that requires you to pay full price for inspection, oil change, and prescribed maintenance every 60 days (regardless of mileage)!

That, and clause #7 where they can cancel anytime with 30 days notice really makes this just about a worthless gimmick.

Car's not in the database, but if it's still around I hope they don't try and cash in on that warranty. Ed Taylor Chevrolet went out of business in 1971!

Not my car but my '67 was purchased new at Ed Taylor 2/67. Too bad they are out of business. A little photo shopping and bam! Free restoration! (maybe not). Anyway - Ed do you have any other information on the dealership? Thanks Chris

Heres the back of the Warranty. You must bring the car to the dealer every 60 days or void the Warranty. Change the oil every 60 days. Wow, the service cost alone would pay the Dealer for the cost of a new engine in no time.

Not much. I used to pass them when I would go see my girlfriend in San Diego. They weren't a very big outfit if I remember correctly. Kind of a mom and pop dealership!

Oaklyss,,,,Reply#4;  I notice that nothing is filled in on the back of that sheet, ie;  mileage/inspection dates, and is not signed.  So my guess is that this warranty is null and void.

Thats right, it was never filled in. When I puchased the 1968 Camaro from the original owner (70 year old lady), she did not remember buying the Warranty at all. The Dealer probably slipped it in the final paperwork, it was probably VERY expensive. Now days, they try to sell you extended warranties.

that was more likely just a 'come on' from the dealership; I'd bet they *gave* every new car owner one of those, to encourage use of their service department.  Probably only 1 of 100 buyers ever kept their car long enough to 'get any free' replacements on that 'warranty', but many would use the dealership service department 'just in case'.   One dealership here in my area offers FREE TIRES for the lifetime of your ownership.  I've never fallen for that line or visited the dealership, but I'd bet it's the same sort of deal; you have to bring the car in for alignments and rebalances, and rotation (and pay for all that) very often for the life of that 'warranty'.. which would amount to way more $$ than the dearlers cost of replacement tires, and probably less than 1% of buyers ever kept their cars long enough to receive those 'free tires'.   ie.  TYPICAL sales gimmick...  (always read the fine print)..

Cool Ed, I had never heard of Baher Chevrolet. Our 08D 68 was purchased at Champion Chevrolet (same location) in Aug/Sept of 1967.
My 05C was purchased at Ted Green Chevrolet in Torrance, I had never heard of Ted Green till I ordered my Paperwork (it soon after changed to Martin Chevrolet)
