I will look later to see if I still have one original. Pretty sure there is one in my storage cabinet in the garage. If so I will post pics.

I have one original that I soaked in Ospho.  It had some original black paint on it, but now most of that is gone.  Does have pitting.  See attached.  There is something stamped on it, possibly a large letter E.

This is from a 68. Remember that there can be more than one supplier for parts.

Thanks for the photos Bryon. The end stamp is quite hard to make out on both yours and Warren's. Other than the stamp, the current reproductions actually look pretty good compared to an original or NOS piece. I will keep looking for nice used ones, but won't sweat this detail if I have to use reproductions.

I agree Tim. The reproductions look acceptable. I do not think they are judged but others may know different.

Have a couple of questions about e-brake cable brackets; I've been looking for some used originals, have got at least one suspected as repro but would prefer to avoid using it - just too darn shiny and straight to suit the car ::)
1) Do originals have any markings on them that identify them as such?

I took my originals off my 1968 (LOS) SS to run Ansen Traction bars & the cable brackets a for sure Orignals and they are stamped

Thanks Jim, matches nicely with Warren's bracket. Are you able to post a picture of the stamp for reference?

Great picture Jim, stamp couldn't be clearer in that example. Thanks!

 ;)
I polished it with a little DREMEL wire wheel and you can see the teeth marks from the channel locks used to "crimp" the brake cables in the endloops during rear end servicing in years past.
