67 rs/ss

I had a 67 butternut yellow rs camaro. I am doing research on the value of it. But I need some things clarified on it. I was told that sense it had hide away headlights that it was a rs/ss. It was a convertable and had the 302 engine which was the z28 motor. But the only emblems it had were the r/s  on the back and front and the engine on the front fender. Was this engine really rare in a rs/ss? How many were made? And any good sights to find more info? Also is there any way to find the vin # of old cars you used to own through dept.of motor vehicles, credit history, title search sights ect.?

You need to get Jerry's book, The Definitive 67-68 Camaro Z/28 Fact Book.

Your general descriptions doesn't quite add up... For one thing he says on page 123, that the 67 RPO Z/28 could not be ordered in a convertible.

Based on the info from CRG,  I would agree that something is not right here. No Z was a "vert"  It could be an RS/SS but not a Z based on the data presented by CRG. And if I understand all options correctly, it would have a 350 290hp in it.

It might have "had" a 302, but it wasn't "born" with a 302. There were no '67 or '69 Z/28 convertibles, and only one '68 (built for Pete Estes).

Thanks, John!  I've told him no rag tops, but I couldn't remember which year they built Estes' car.  He's trying to do all this from memory.  Now, I sort of wonder if it wasn't a small block RS...

Phillip, Have you looked at the pics I put on my first post?  I can't make our any details (even with magnification and picture editing programs) of the enblems on the front fenders.
I'm 99% sure it was a 302 but there is a chance it was a 307. Does that fit the bill in any way? I did pull from the picture my plate # and have begun a search for the title so I can get the vin#. I can remember that the 30? number was located on my front fender. Is there a sight where I could look at the emblems on these cars? Thanks  Cliff

Yes, I looked at the pictures.  You are right, it's hard to tell much from them.  I'm beginning to suspect it was an RS with a 327 motor.  At least the odds point in that direction.  302...307 (That's right, no 307 in Camaro in 67)... 327... They can all blend together in your memory over time.

Do you have any clear interior pictures, especially the dash and/or steering wheel or motor pictures?

Cliff,

Got your email and just looked at your interior picture.  It's pretty fuzzy, too.  But the angle is the problem.  I was hoping to get a look straight on of your steering wheel and instrument panel.  Obviously those things aren't definitive in and of themselves, but I was hoping for hints.  Your picture doesn't show that.  Sorry!
