Trying post pics of the Trans.  It's a M20.  Also has a plug marked "W" or "M" on it.  Gotta resize pics or take better ones.  So bare with me guys.

The heads and Carb numbers.  Also the drive shaft with the stripes.  Again..anyone have answers about the stripes around the drive shaft ?

I have no data on driveshaft stripes, but I think Bryon Miller is collecting that data, and if yours is the original .. I'm sure he would love to have your input..  Look up driveshaft cleaning and preserving (use a chemical rust remover) and do not sand, abrade, or repaint... *S*   get it clean, and then clear over it to preserve it...

I've seen where the driveshaft is put in a PVC tube and filled with evaporust for example. Thats what I plan to do with mine.

Here's the open air element cover and base.  Not to familiar with these but was told it's original also and that the markings on the inside makes it a hard to find "correct cover"  Anyone have input on this as well ?  Probably still the original flame arrestor as well   ???

Thanks

I don't think it mattered if it was a SB or BB for that thread.

Ok, I did what a couple of you suggested for getting the partial Vin off the filter side.   Took some aircraft paint stripper and a brass brush... BAM !!  But it's very light and hard to see entirely.  I took like 30 pics until I was able to get one even this good  :-[   I could barely see part of "N" and parts of the last 2 digits "33"  But it is there

Thanks guys

"Oddly I haven't seen any partial VIN stamp on the eng.  pad nor the filter location.  Is it possible that the stamper ran off to the bathroom when my blocked passed..lol"

Bingo! I know that feeling when you can see any of those magic numbers.
I'm glad the stamp guy didn't go to the bathroom, he just didn't eat his Wheaties :)
