General Discussion / Re: Speedometer cable grommet
March 16, 2025, 10:54:57 PM
I figured it out. Clamped my 69 cables speedo end in a vice at the metal base. I took a socket that has an Allen wrench on it's  end . This socket at it's base matches the diameter of the cable end. I stacked the socket on the cable end. I secured it with a wrap of duct tape. The socket tapers at the base of the Allen wrench. Basically your creating a tapered cone. Apply a lubricant and push it right down over the cable. Could not believe how easy it was! The rubber is very strong and forgiving. No special tool needed!

Talked to them yesterday.  Maybe I talked to the wrong person. Had a top made by them and they didn't seem interested in helping me out.

Don't  know of any top manufacturer that can give you the correct seem . Have talked to SMS Fabrics and they can't  do it. Legends judging allows for the incorrect seem position.

My 680 negative ,and 683 positive cables ,came on my 06A 69 Z when purchased in 1982. The AIM shows these numbers. The 84 is exactly like the 83 but much thicker . The 84 must have superceded the 83. Also the repro cables show 680 N and 683 positive.

Doc, Is it possible that the 84 supercedes the 83 ? Aim shows 6297683 . Purchased my car in 82 and it had both original style cables. Can't remember if the positive cable had the 5/16"  bolt . The replacement battery had 2  3/8"  bolts .

My O6A Z came with a positive battery cable #3297683AR, same part number as in the AIM. I acquired an #3297684 AS. The 84 also looks correct. Original Delco eye cables. What goes here ?

Does anyone who has a survivor 69 Z28 before June of 69. I would like to know if the carb base plate has a square notch on the drivers side rear mounting leg . This notch was apparently used for the upcoming 70 model year cable accelerator bracket.

General Discussion / Factory 69 Z/28 oil pan
August 13, 2023, 09:46:00 AM
I have 3 versions of 69 Z oil pans. One with hump in the middle (over the counter). The other 2 are factory. The question I have is, when did the reinforced (Ribbed flange) version appear. I removed one from an October 69 302.
Thanks
