Garage Talk / Re: My First Camaro - What was Yours?
August 19, 2017, 01:27:41 PM
My first Camaro was a 1968 plain jane coupe that I bought in 1977. It was originally red with a black vinyl top, but had been painted blue before I bought it. It had a 327 and TH 350. I think I paid $80 for the SS wheels. It was a great car but I sold it in 1984 for the usual reasons; kids, house, etc. Bought my current Camaro in 1988.

Listed on Ebay.

The VIN number is a little hard to read, but I believe it's 124377N247003.

It's about time the uber-rare RPO 4WD Camaro's were celebrated!

Wow, I must really be getting old... I'm the one that started that thread.  :-[ Based on the answer of the guy with the 67, I guess there should be one on both sides. Thanks for the help.

Thanks, I saw that thread but it only talked about 69's. I'm wondering if it was a 69 only thing.

Is this correct for a 68? Would it be on both sides, or just passenger?

Decoding/Numbers / Re: New creep on the block!

I've captured a few from this person, but expect there will be many more.

"To order your Classic Tag you will need:

- A scan / or digital photo of original tag
or
- Year Model & Series - Hardtop, Coupe, 2dr, 4dr, wagon, conv, etc
- Body numbers - production numbers from where body was built (may require VIN numbers)
- Trim numbers - interior fabric type & colors
- Paint numbers - body colors"

They're not limited to Camaro's either.

It would be a cool combo, but I don't think British Green was available until 68.

Decoding/Numbers / 67 special paint tag
August 14, 2011, 07:13:32 PM
While cataloging another Butternut Yellow car (I have no life), I came across a 67 tag with what looks like a special paint code for the top. I thought the Z designator for special paint began in the 68 model year. Or am I reading it wrong? Or maybe the tag is a fake? The VIN for the car is 124377L109849.

Thanks! Don't know how I missed those, but I'll get them added shortly.

Kevin,

Here are two more "loose" cowl tags for your database...

Paul

Thanks Paul. I already have those. They were listed by 69morph, who I like to call Mr. Bucket O' Tags. Here's his collection. They're all real I'm sure... /sarcasm.

Kudos to you for rescuing it, and kudos to Mike for breathing life back into that sorry looking shell!
