Restoration / 67 speedo cable / 4 spd cars
May 21, 2006, 07:19:45 PM
Hello All, went to install the speedo cable last night and found a drawing in the assm. book that shows a right angle drive at the transmission on 4 spd cars and completly different routing of the cable. This was a basket case that I did not take apart and of course I can find no such part in all my baskets ! Nor can I find such a part listed in the books from Ricks and the likes. Did the 4 spd cars have these ????? If so, where does one find them ???  Thanks. Bruce in MD

Restoration / Re: Bleeding Brakes
April 14, 2006, 03:51:46 PM
Hi Gang, Yes I did bleed the master off car, and yes I found your posting but my problem is not air coming out the bleeders, I get just a nice flow of fluid. I keep bleeding & bleeding, no air. I wonder if it is somehow trapped in the calipers ???? Thanks for the input. Bruce

Restoration / Bleeding Brakes
April 12, 2006, 07:07:24 PM
Hi all, Have a 67 with all new parts in the brake system, new lines, booster, wheel and master cyl, calipers, shoes, pads, proportioning valve, etc. Went to bleed it and just cannot seem to get all the air out .... brakes pump up and I get a nice flow from all 4 bleeders, but still have no petal. have bleed it 10 times, still no air coming out but no petal with out pumping. Have noticed that the bleeders in the calipers seem to be much lower than the top of the piston bore .... can air be trapped in that area and if so, how do I get it out? Thanks!! Bruce

Restoration / Re: To Dye or Lacquer?
March 18, 2006, 08:39:32 PM
Many years ago I repainted a dash pad and all the hard panels in my Elcamino, the painter at the dealer where I worked set me up with a "flex" agent to mix in with the lacquer. Worked like a charm. Was off the shelf dupont. Good luck, let us know how it goes. Bruce

Mild Modifications / Exhaust system for 67 ????
March 06, 2006, 09:09:05 PM
I have a 67 conv. with a 396 / 4 spd and hooker str. back headers which now needs the rest of the exhaust. I have been looking at the kits from summit, magnaflow, flowmaster and even got a few prices from local shops for a custom exhaust. So, what things do I need to look for? Does a 67 need to have the transverse muffler or will 2 smaller mufflers really fit under the car? Other issues? Thanks, Bruce

Mild Modifications / 67 Exhaust header back
January 27, 2006, 09:47:37 PM
Hey !!! I have a 67 Conv. BB 4 spd with str. back hooker headers. I need the rest of the exhaust but keep finding the after market kits listed as "all except conv." Yet the local dealer reports part numbers are the same for conv. or hardtop. Has any one done a conv. ??? Thanks.

Originality / 67 console gauges
December 10, 2005, 07:28:32 PM
Just got my new OER gauge pack and it looks great, I also found a "orig console with the gauge pod and parts of the gauges" at carlisle this last fall plus I have the orig. pod from the car with date sticker still intact. Question is ... the orig pod has chrome trim around the gauges, the other 2 do not. Was this area left black to I D the repro? Or did some one remove the paint on the orig. pod somewhere along the way ???? Thanks, Bruce

Restoration / 67 exhaust ?? conv stiffner
December 09, 2005, 10:35:32 PM
Hi, Can anyone tell me why the aftermarket groups all list header back exhaust kits for 67 hardtops EXCEPT convertibles ?? I understand my conv. has a stiffing plate, but was the factory big block exhaust not the same? Thanks, Bruce
