Title: Firestone F70-14 tire replacement
Post by: JGraft on January 04, 2025, 01:59:23 PM
I have a 1968 RS/SS with these bias ply tires, the tires are at least 6 years old, does anyone have any technical data or recommendations on how often these tires should be replaced, externally the tires still appear to be in good condition.

Thx,
Jeff

The Coker Extended purchasable (&&) Warranty is valid for 5 years.

Here is an interesting Discussion y.net

I asked this question to a Kelsey Tire associate, and I was told that the DOT recommends replacing tires after 7 years.

I guess I need a set of new tires.

This happened to me in 2024- http://www.camaros.org/forum/index.php?topic=21292.msg194317#msg194317
In the end I just bought a new set of Coker redlines for peace of mind.
I have read there have been attempts to put in legislation to fail tires that are 7 to 8 years old if your state does yearly inspections due to sudden sidewall failures of older tires regardless of the mileage, but at least in NY, there aren't any restrictions....yet.
