A friend of mine is thinking about selling the heads from a 67 Z that he owned in the early 70's, They are complete and original. I verified that they are 1967 2.02 heads by the numbers but with as rare as these are I couldn't answer him when he asked what they were worth ....
Anyone have a rough idea on a price range ???
Thank You
What kind of shape are they in. Bare castings, used but complete or fresh ready to bolt on? It all makes a difference. By the way, the casting numbers for the '67 302 heads were also used on lower performance engines in the 1.94/1.50 valve configuration so without a visual inspection, you can't tell if they are 2.02/1.60 heads.
Russ
They are used and complete, original, and could be bolted on as is.
They are the 0462 - 2.02 heads, date code Feb 67
Thank You
I would think they are worth between $300 and $400 in used condition. IMHO
Maybe not completely original. They would have been changed to the 2.02 valves. I am interested in buying. Do you have digital photos available?
Thanks,
Bill

I'm not sure what you mean. All Chevy 302's come with 2.02/1.60 valves.
My intent was to say that not all '67 462 and 291 heads had 2.02 valves. But could be changed. Sorry if I confused anyone.
Thanks,
Bill
I've got a set of 291 2.02 1.60 heads with matching cast dates. I believe they are F27. is there any way to tell if they were originally 2.02 1.60?

Note the machined relief in the chamber wall adjacent to the outside of the intake valve in the photo below of a 186 head with factory 2.02's; the 291 will look the same way if it had 2.02's from the factory. If it has 2.02 valves and the unshrouding cut isn't present, they were 1.94's from the factory and the shop that installed the 2.02's didn't make the unshrouding cut.
Thanks John. based on what you have told me, i belive they are 2.02 1.60 from the factory. my understanding is they could have been on a 302 or a 327. is there any difference that would distinguish one from the other or would they be the same for either application? thanks. Mike
They'd be the same for either application.
