I have a 1968 Camaro that came to Canada new, so I have documentation from GM Canada and it has from what I can tell is a rare stripe option code of d88 from which I can tell would have been a multi coloured nose stripe and is also shown to have the d90 body stripe which is more common. Can anybody shed any light on the d88 option ?
Car has been repainted over the years and so it's possible something may be underneath but at this point no idea.
Car was originally British Green
Shipped Feb 29 1968
Thanks in advance for any info
Great First Post.
Post up your https://www.chevyteam.com/vvs/ results
Thanks
Here I will try and attach
Sorry don't know why it went sideways
Another thing I found interesting the m11 shifter option ........I never knew such a shifter existed floor mount no console. ..........the car still has the correct hole in the floor all looks factory , but shifter is long gone .
It is all Good.
I would venture to say that while the "customer-dealer" may have specified ordering content requesting the D88, RPO was cancelled Feb 1968 and the D90 substituted in its place and delivered with out D88 and delivered with the Late: Sport Striping D90.
This could be unique to the Data avail to the Canada Cars- Neat paper for sure.
Others will clarify better than I can I think.
Jim
Yes I ran across cancelled Feb 28................but this car was shipped out Feb. 29 ..........so would have been completed before the 28 date .
Thx Rory
Some Good reading:

Thx!!!! I will have a read
I did find this also , I will attach
The fact the D90 is followed after the D88 would lead me to believe that the car was "ordered" with the D88 but due to not being fully released into production is why the D90 was the default option for the car.

Here is a photo of one. https://www.camaros.net/threads/1968-rpo-m11-floor-shift-auto-w-o-center-console.479458/
1. Yes, it's the unicorn option. Zero production total via GM documentation. I kinda recall that it was to only be available on certain colors.
I've seen two cars with it - both had it added.
I don't know what to make of the GM of Canada document, but the two stripes are incompatible - it would have came with D90. http://www.camaros.org/exterior.shtml#stripes
G31 is also a rare option.
2. M11 with small block changes it from a 3-speed column shift (3 on the tree) to a 3-speed floor shift.
M11 with BB is a different beast.
Sorry been gone a bit
Thanks for your reply
Yes I was a little puzzled with the m11 floor transmission control option, I never knew that type of shifter even existed, and from anything I can find out it came with a turbo 400 which would be a little surprising with a 327 cid. This still has all the correct holes in the floor for that shifter .
I was not really aware of the pa2 wheel cover they came with either.
Thanks ......love the black and white photo that's cool
I looked up the spring option you mentioned, yes it looks like a really rare option also.
I find this car very confusing with the options it had, I would have to assume somebody special ordered it this way , but the combo is very confusing from the norm.
Also well taking things apart I've noticed other strange things about it , that don't really add up, think it had a pretty storied life , looks like it was in two very bad wrecks.

TH400 only available with big block engines in 67-69 Camaros.
In early 2023, I came across one of these "unicorns" in northeast Philadelphia area in a private holding. It was loaded with options with many of those options appearing to have possibly been either dealer-installed or owner-installed at some point in time because of the numerous flaws that I noticed that could not have been attributed to a factory install. Regrettably, I did not note the build date on the trim tag.
The D-88 stripes and body paint appeared to be a very old lacquer job so possibly (but not plausibly) original? Attached is a photo of the "unicorn" with the front license plate redacted.

I believe that car came out of Northern San Diego County quite a few years ago. It was pretty much debunked at the time.
Yup, I think it's the same car.
I like the look...might see how much a vinyl wrap will be.
I saw that Car in 2011 at the AZ, Silver Auction site Fort McDowell
Nice tribute

And here is a previous thread with the VIN listed and a nice list of what's incorrect by Ed B.
