A friend of mine has a classic key business and asked if this original envelope was a '69 Camaro only item, notice the key is squared vs the reproduction ones which are hexagon shape, does anyone know?
That looks like a standard GM item for 69 and up. 69 was the first year of the square key and steering column ignition lock....round key for the trunk. I can't see the number on the paper. Google it and see what you come up with.
It's 3958690 and yes, it came with all 1969 through late 1970's GM cars and trucks.

Thanks Ed!
here is my 1968 Version I got with the Car in 1983
Wonder what year range this PN is applicable to?
The time frame for that part number (3933878) is late 1967. Prior to the 1968 model year, I don't believe there was a separate key envelope.

I got my car from the original owner, and she kept everything except the body shop receipts. Now I'm curious.
Ed, they came with my Jan3rd 1968 release LOS Camaro in the glove box when I bought the Car in 1983
Yes, I found a post on the NCRS site from John that said the 1968 model year was the first year for the "key envelope", so that's now been verified. However, before that I THINK they used the "Key Keeper" envelope (see below) but I'm not sure if it was a "factory" or a "dealer" item. It would be nice for anyone with older Chevrolet cars and trucks with original keys and glove box contents to chime in.

Ed, what time frame would you say late 67 is? I won't hold you to an exact date, but a general month/week.
Found mine under the drivers seat when I pulled the carpet....Envelope was trashed...Bizarre.

The start of the 1968 model year - August, 1967
