I know the joint where the bottom of the firewall and the floor come together was seam sealed at the factory on the interior side of the joint. My car is a '68.
Was there any sealing done on this joint from the factory on the bottom side of the car. Looking at pictures I took of the bottom of my car before the floor was replaced, I don't see any.
If it was not sealed from the factory, is it a good idea to do that now? I thought I had read somewhere that it was not a good idea to seam a joint like that from both sides. I don't remember the reason why though.
Thanks......Dave

Dave, mine only has the sealer on the interior side, and I can't recall seeing it on any underside before, in that location. I'd think that the concern with sealing both sides of a panel join is that it could form a moisture trap, but that may not be so. FWIW, I checked my 69 Fisher Body Manual but it doesn't appear to have any seam sealer location details.
My two 67's are the same way as Tim described. Sealed on the inside only.
Mike
Ok, thanks for looking.
