Various ads and such from Washburn Chevrolet in Santa Barbara, CA. Tony Settember drove their
'67 Z-28 in SCCA A/Sedan events as well as Trans-Am races. The car was maintained by Bob Joehnck.

Fantastic stuff Jon!  It's cool to see how the dealers promoted the Z28 and their racing success back then because General Motors sure didn't do much nationally.

Spence Chevrolet in Daytona Beach was a high performance dealership. Note they are even advertising L88 powered Camaros.

It was actually my father.  He was going to upgrade to Motion equip back in the day but changed his mind and swapped out the 375hp 396 for a 69 COPO 427 and then swapped back due to the 427 not pulling as hard as the 396..  So now I have the envelope and info from Motion.

Is that a black painted roof on the car and not a vinyl top?

No its a vinyl top.  All original, never painted nor vinyl been replaced.  He used this on the vinyl followed by good ole Armor All for many years. 




Couple of guys here know the car very well z28z11 & rare396bronze and also knew my father for many, many years.

A couple additional performance dealer ads from Car Craft, January 1969. I remember how common it was to see Camaro misspelled. Nowadays, my computer's auto spell check likes to change Camaro to "Camry". Of all things, HA!

Village Chevrolet in Queens Village, New York was big into performance and their
performance sales representative Pete Dodd ran a '68 Z/28 in the Trans-Am series in 1970.




Here's a color photo of the same car from the ad. The setting is claimed to be Central Park in NYC but I have no idea if that's factual.
This is the actual Camaro that Pete Dodd raced in the Trans-Am series but at this time it had only run in A/Sedan events.

Here is an ad for Valvoline featuring the 1968 Pontiac Firebird of Jerry Titus and John Ward that finished first in class and third overall in the 1969 Daytona 24 hour race.  The race started at approximately 3:00pm eastern standard time on Saturday, February 1st and ended twenty four hours later on Sunday, February 2, 1969.  The obviously appeared sometime after that.  While the race was not a part of the Trans Am series this year, a large field of cars was entered in the Trans Am class.  I found the ad here on this web site.  I believe Jon Mello posted it.

And now for the under 2.0 liter Trans Am cars, starting with Alfa Romeo.

This ad for the 1966 Alfa Romeo Guilia GTA appeared in the race program for the 1966 Four Hour Governor's Cup for Sedans (First Trans Am race)/12- hours of Sebring Sports Car race at Sebring Circuit, Sebring, Florida.  The Trans Am race took place on March 25, 1966 and the 12-hour race followed the next day.  I found the ad here on this web site.  I believe Jon Mello posted it.

Here is an ad for the 1967 Alfa Romeo GTV that appeared in the 1966 Riverside Trans Am race program.  I love the line in the copy that describes the car as, "the race-bread beauty that will spoil you for any other car."  This race took place on September 18, 1966.  I found this picture on this web site.  I believe Jon Mello posted it.

Here is an ad for the 1970 Alfa Romeo GTA that features a picture of the 1970 Laguna Seca Trans Am U-2 race winning car of Lee Midgley.  Since the race took place on April 19, 1970 at Laguna Seca Raceway, Monterey, California it must have appeared sometime after that.  I found the ad on the Alfa's In Trans Am thread on the Alfa Bulletin Board: http://www.alfabb.com/bb/forums/picture-room/17978-alfas-trans-am.html
