1969 Burnished brown Z/28's

My father was a dealer in the 50-70's.  Select vehicles often had vinyl tops installed to provide ADP.  (additional dealer profit).  Although unusual to have brown vinyl top on Z/28.  Rarely have I heard of a Z/28 to receive an aftermarket vinyl top unless there was a either a defect or a warranty claim.  Nevertheless, I also was the proud owner of Z/28.  As a college student I ordered a new 1969 Burnished Brown Z/28 with white stripes...best color ever!  Interior in my car had black carpets & dash with white seats and door panels.  Also it had a dealer installed under dash 8 track player; wood grain dash; front and rear speakers, tinted glass, cross ram in the trunk (never installed and sold with the car); cowl induction hood, spoilers front and rear and it did not have a console. Also, it also had a factory installed 1970 Z/28 steering wheel and the car was built in Norwood, Ohio.  Unfortunately I sold the car to pay for grad school and would love to have the car back. I trust that it is a survivor...

You mentioned your car came with a cross-ram in the Trunk so can you discuss how you ordered and any details pertaining to that.

No Z/28 EVER came with a cross-ram setup in the trunk - if you wanted to buy one, it came in a box over the counter in the dealer's Parts Department.

Burnished Brown is one of my favorite colors from 69 along with Rallye Green. Saw a Burnished Brown 1969 Z/28 a couple years back at the Charlotte fall swap meet for sale. It was a really nice car and there was a good price tag on it! Maybe someday I'll find one in my price range although for the amount I can afford it will have to be towed home!

Yeah that's what the wife says too! I've got a good hunch though that if I sold one she would want to use the money somewhere else then so long Camaro! Besides I've had the 67 since I was 16 and the 69 is in process. Maybe when the 69 is done I could part with it but I'm attached to the 67. The C-10 is just a driver for around town and needs a bit of work itself.

I read that the same way initially...   but he's not referring to a big block, but instead using 'BB' to represent 'Burnished Brown' color...

I am restoring a 69Z and need to decide the color.  The car was originally burnished brown with dark brown vinyl top (61 F).  I was going to go with black, but after reading all of the posts, I was thinking of keeping it original.  My interior is black (712).  I do want to make a mistake on something this expensive.  Thanks

I agree keeping it BB. I have seen very few in my lifetime and they stick out (in a good way) when parked next to the usual colors everybody has or switches too. Maybe add white vinyl stripes to make it pop even more that can be easily removed if so desired at a later date. You state that it has a dark brown vinyl roof. If it is in good shape I would keep that as well. Might be pretty hard finding that color if it ever needed replaced. And that vinyl roof would make it a much lower number as far as original options than the other BB cars without it. Just food for thought.
