Come Join Us and have your car Vintage Certified at MCACN Nov 17th & 18th in Chicago

Vintage Certification is a judging program whose sole purpose is to recognize, provide status, provenance, and promote un-restored (survivor) vehicles. We believe it is the only program that focuses on documenting and benchmarking these cars. Our core certification team consists of Brett Merryman, Chris White, John Karvonen, Roger Gibson, Steve Shauger and incorporates other specialists based on make and model. Each core team member possesses over 30 years experience as restorers, collectors, historians and judges in the hobby. Typically we spend 3hrs examining in detail every segment of your car including on a lift. The MCACN show http://www.mcacn.com is the perfect venue to have your vehicle certified. You will be among and exclusive group of enthusiast who participate in this new exciting event.

We understand not every original car is 100% untouched, and we offer four levels of certification, based on the originality of the Vehicle.
Vintage Legend Certifications levels are divided into four divisions:
Vintage Legend - Cars that are 80%-90% unrestored in all reference areas.
Vintage Legacy - Cars that are minimally 50% unrestored, in three out of five reference areas.
Vintage Reference - Cars that are unrestored in at least one Vintage Reference Area.
Vintage Icon - Cars that have original-unrestored components disbursed throughout.

Reference Areas: Certification consists of two areas of consideration, Originality and Preservation.  Reference areas are as follows:

     •  Engine Compartment Area
     •  Exterior Body
     •  Interior Body
     •  Underbody
     •  Trunk

This is Vintage Certification’s 14th year and we continuing to expand and educate enthusiast on factory standards.

VINTAGE CERTIFICATION PROVIDES THE FOLLOWING:

• Encourages the preservation, status, recognition and appreciation of the unrestored vehicle.

• Offers the hobbyist the opportunity to have their Vehicle certified objectively, fairly and provides provenance and pedigree.

• Promotes and adheres to the philosophy that the original car showing wear is preferable to one that is improperly restored

• Vintage Certification represents a repository of factory correct standards by which the hobby and serious restorers can all benefit

• Vintage Certification identifies a Vehicle as having completed a thorough exhausting inspection process, which references factory standards, and at a level as established by Vintage Certification Group.

Last year we added a display only area (non judged) exclusively unrestored cars "Vintage Heritage Collection". Having a display area for unrestored cars allows owners of like cars to be displayed together and recognized collectively.

Vintage Heritage Collection at last years show:

1969 Boss 302 – Larry Shinoda prototype
1971 Olds W30 Convertible
1965 Z16 Chevelle
1967 RS/SS Camaro

If your vehicle was built prior to 1988 and think it may qualify, or just want to know more about our program email me at vintagecert@optimum.net or sshauger@optonline.net (631) 514-9765 for our Rules and Guideline packet along with an application. It is truly amazing the jewels of information that can be learned from these benchmark cars. The Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals is November 17th & 18th 2012.

The MCACN is next weekend, Novemeber 17 & 18 in the Rosemont Convention Center. It's truly an amazing event and display of cars; in fact this year marks 25th anniversary of the passing of Don Yenko. As a tribute to Don and his legacy there is a special display of over 60 Yenko built cars, along with extensive collections of memorabilia. This is an indoor event with over 550 cars attending. One feature that might interest you is the trans am display featuring the very rivals of the series Z28's, AAR's, Javelin's, Boss 302 & Shelby's some stock and some as raced. There really is too much to mention so visit the website at www.mcacn.com Also the Vintage Certification team will have several unrestored first gen Z28's and LS6 Chevelles in our program and display. I look forward to this amazing show and seeing old friends and meeting new ones.

Steve, I talked to several people who attended last year and everyone said the show was just top shelf and amazing. Wish I could make it but unfortunately have other commitments, but plan on getting out there next year.
Anxious to hear and see pictures from this years show.

The MCACN show gets some of the best muscle cars I have ever seen in one location, and they get them in big numbers also. Last year seeing 18 ZL1's in a row was unbelievable. Bob Ashton runs the show and invites new cars every year so there is allways something new to see. I had my Chevelle there last year in a row with 12 other 1970 Chevelle's. Had a great time meeting those owners. Looking forward to being a spectator and just looking around this year. I highly recommend this show.
Anyway I wondered who was going and where you might be hanging out. George

I've done that show a few times, but not with my Camaro. When it first started out, after they did away with Vettefest, it was a very nice and affordable show, But like everything else the people who run it seemed to have gotten very selective on who and what cars were selected to be in the show and the pricing of everything went up. With out our cars to display for the viewing public they wouldn't have a show. A friend of mine who has also been doing MCACN for years and with a Corvette tried to enter again this year and was told he could only enter the show if he entered a different car than the one he's been entering. Pretty snippy, if that's the right word, if you ask me. I stopped doing the show a couple of years ago.

Every year this show just raises the bar and this year was no exception. There were over 550 cars and the showcases were again exceptional, Trans Am Terrors, Aero Warriors, Class of 72, Class of 62, Going Topless, Shelby Snake Pit, Barn Finds, SYC showcase, Corvette Triple Diamond display, Bee Hive (Super Bee display). Other features included; 9 book signings, 5 car unveilings, 12 seminars, 9 book signings & 10 celebrity appearances - Linda Vaughan, Dr. Lynn Yenko, Buddy Martin & Diane Sox, Wally Booth, Norm Kraus to name a few.

In the interest in keeping the show fresh and due to limited space the show can not always accommodate cars previouly entered. As listed above there are so many showcases and themes that are needed to keep this show fresh, exciting, different and new like no other.

Nice seeing you again Steve, the show was amazing, the Yenko display was very special, and I especially liked looking at the survivors..  8)
Our Buddy from Cuyahoga Falls was glad he came to the Vintage Certification with his 71 Z28. Nice job with that.

Mike,

I bumped into him in the elevator and we discussed the car I think that would be a great car for a Friday night technical group discussion-perhaps next summer-we will see.... :)

Yes it was a great event and guys like you and Grady are what makes it such a great event.  Wish I had more time but with 9 cars being certified and 20+ hours judging, it limits socializing. I think everyone was blown away with the number of Yenko cars and the huge amount of memorabilia displayed. I just hope we don't have to wait another 25 years to make it happen.

Rob's 71 Z28 was a fantastic car and achieved our Legend level certification. Rob is a really nice guy and has a real appreciation for what benchmark cars are and what they represent. BTW we already have some great showcases planned for next years MCACN show.

Mickey from your pictures your car would be a definite candidate for this show. I have 2 pictures taken from the middle to show the row of Yenko's. And a picture of a very unusual  Black-Yellow COPO freshly restored to day-2 condition. Overall a great place to see 500 plus muscle cars in 2 days.George
