Steering Linkage - Tie Rod Sleeve - correct finish?

Regarding the steering linkage tie rod sleeves - what is the correct finish? Natural or black painted? I've seen both on restored cars and not sure. Also - how about the two sleeve bolts - black phospate or cadmium/sliver zinc?

Thanks. I forgot to do a search, but did go back many posts and didn't come across a discussion. So net-net: Tie Rod Sleeves are natural as are the clips; the bolts are phosphate and oil; the lock nuts zinc/silver or natural.
