Anyone in or from the Austin, Texas area?
« on: December 08, 2011, 03:19:51 AM »
I am looking for a dealership that would have been in the 1968-75 range by the name Armstrong-Johnson.  This was the last known area that my car was before making the trip east to TN and I want to try and track it down to see what info I can dig up.  I have called the Texas DMV with my vin and nothing came back in their records.  Thanks for any help in advance..  Darrell

Finally got ahold of someone at Leif Johnson Ford dealership.  First person told me that the dealership has always been Leif Johnson but after calling back and talking with service dept I found out it was.. ::)  Anyways they do not handle info back that old so I am back to square one..  I think its time to call TN DMV and trace back the owner that brought it into TN and see if they are still around..  Wish me luck.

Hopefully you still own the car today, must be a early 68 with those 302 emblems, nice.

Very cool if it is your car. I also noticed the rear antenna, another item that would help positively ID it possibly. Good Luck Darrell!

Also notice that the pass head has in yellow or white marker what looks to be MO..  As well as the water pump bypass fitting & hose are painted.

I noticed in Hrdez 's pictures it looks like the spoiler was added and no bumper guards.

good call. I am sure everyone else already noticed it had a cowl plenum piece still on the firewall, which I thought was interesting since it looks like they had to add a tach. Or maybe the factory tach went out?

My car is a cowl plenum car and it did not have a console or gauges.  Still not 100% this is the same as mine.  Talked with the original owner of the car above today and he is looking for anything he may have on that car.  Crazy thing is he ordered his car around the same time as mine and it was from the same dealer in Austin TX.  Not impossible I guess..  Time will tell.

Original owner said he added the rear spoiler but the front spoiler came on the car.  Also cowl plenum was in the trunk & he added the headers.  Cool story he told me was he went to a SCCA race in Texas and was watching the race and looked over at his car and noticed that the front end of his car was in the air.  He and his friends ran over to the car and some guys were taking his brake pads off the car asking if they could use them cause they just killed theirs in the race.  He said the racers name was Wally something or other.  Ended up going out to California to be a part of Wally's crew and has been out there ever since.  He also said he could remember when you got on the car with the cowl plenum air cleaner it was almost deafening..  lol  Those are 15x7's in the above pictures.  He said he knew a guy that had a vette and he got the wheels from him and added new tires.
