My '68 Camaro In Synergy Green

 Here's a video showing my car being painted. Long process. 3 base coats of silver, 3 color coats of green, and 3 coats of clear. Video doesn't really capture the green fully.

That has to be one of the better painting videos I've seen on-line. Being a candy application makes it even better. You mentioned 10 minutes between
base and color coats. Is it the same for the clear?

Clear coat has a longer period between coats, 20 minutes to a half hour. It's the same clear used on Jay Leno's eco car

Great work Paul and what a color. One question i have and I may have missed it with my computer trouble,but do you edge the jams first with just color or are they cleared before taping car up. thanks Paul Bruce

Thanks for the kind words everyone. The door jambs, under hood and decklid were all painted and cleared. You then use a soft line when painting the car, which gives you a nice blend rather than a hard line.

Hey Paul my car was painted BC/CC. A dark grey epoxy primer was used. Just curious if the silver you sprayed forst would have made any difference on my paint job. My car is Cortez Silver. I like Cortez Silver but find that some cars seem to have a more Metallic finish. Just curious how that is achieved.

 The Cortez Silver uses a darker base, which gives it that great silver color. The Synergy Green uses a sliver metallic base as the green is a candy with pearl tint. The sparkle you see in the green is actually the silver base. I have a '69 SS waiting for my next project. An original Cortez Silver car that someone painted an awful red color. One of my favorite original colors.

Hey Paul is the tape you use for the door jams a sponge type tape or regular masking tape

 That Camaro looks great. Very well done. I've seen some people end up with what I call tiger stripes. The even flow on your car is fantastic. I actually loved the look of my car in the silver base. As for the question of masking, we use a foam tape, round and about the diameter of a penny. The round shape allows a soft blend, If you watch the video you might see the tape in the door jambs at the quarters, with the doors out slightly. This gives an even blend with no need to sand after.

Thanks Paul I appreciate the feedback. I have learned so much so far building this car. So much more to learn yet I am sure. I am thinking of wet sanding the car and doing a cut polish on it. Any advice and what can I expect in terms of improvent from what I have now.
