Non SS cars with D 90

Were there many cars delivered from the factory that were non SS that had this option?

Well there were 26729 cars ordered with D90 in 1969, but there was 34932 SS's ordered in 69 which included the D90.  Not sure if the stated D90 option total quantity is over and above the 34932, but i find it hard to beleive there are roughly 5000 SS's (Z10 and Z11's obviously didn't get D90 stripes) that would be carrying a special paint code indicating stripe delete, so it must be cars over and above the total number of SS's.

D90 was an "option" on a Z/28 for early '69 production but it was included on all Z/28's later in the model year so it was not realy optional at that time.

Pretty sure the options count are for cars that were ordered specifically with that option.  Not the cars that had that option included in a package.

for example, CE1 is the headlight washers.  It is included in the RS option package Z22.  The chart shows 37,773 1969 cars were ordered with the RS option.  So if the CE1 option listed should show 37,773+ cars.  But it only shows 116.  So that means 116 non-RS cars were ordered with the CE1. 

Now we look at the D90.  Chart show 26,729 cars ordered with it.  For SS cars with it is 36,309.  So in 69 63,038 Camaros had the D-90 stripe

The reason I bring this up is because I am considering installing D90 on my 69 L65 convertible non RS car.

My 69 307 3 speed was born lemans blue and it had the hockey stick stripe when I got it in 1979.

I am going to do it. I think they will look great on the Glacier Blue with the white top.

DX-1 is a better looking stripe, especially if you have a cowl hood, which technically is a combo you could not order, except on a COPO.

True, the DX-1 is interesting, but you can only get the full effect with the hood down.  At car shows with the hood up it loses its effect

I really like DX-1 too. I was leaning that way because you see fewer of them. The reason I went with D90 was because technically my car would not have come from the factory with DX 1 since it is a late April car. Nothing has been installed yet...
