« on: October 19, 2011, 09:13:15 PM »
Does anyone know when they started to use the fuel line bracket on a 69 z?Jan feb?? Its the bracket that bolts to the carb stud and wraps around the fuel line going to the secondary bowl. thanks John

John, the change was recorderd in the AIM on 10-31-68 (UPC Z28, Sheet A3, Item #12 & 13), but it looks like it didn't hit the line until much later. John Hinckley's 69 Z is a 02D build and DOESN'T have the bracket, so it must have started after that. In his book, Jerry shows the bracket on the 4346 carb (L72, L78 and L89) started in May of 1969 (page 142), but I'm not sure if the 4053 also received it at that time. I would assume so, but this is a good question for Jerry.

I've always thought that bracket just got 'tossed' when the first carb rebuild was performed (or the line was exchanged for the 'chrome dual feed' lines that most everyone ran back in the '70's.

My car had that bracket on it when I purchased it in '76..  it still has it, but it's the only *original* one I've ever seen.. (they reproduce that part now)..

I can send you a photo tonight from home (via personal email) if you like?

OK.. I took a couple of quick photos tonight, and it's been awhile since I've posted a photo, but I'll try...

I've only seen it on two unrestored Z28's. Both were late built , one a 9C the other 10A of 69. I believe it was a late production item and most were tossed once carbs were removed for servicing.

Hi Steve,
My car is a 9C ...  I checked the assembly manual last night, and the drawing which shows it was released on 10/31/1968... so you would think it would show up sooner than the next September..?

The release date shown on an A.I.M. sheet simply says when Engineering Graphics revised the illustration and part numbers, not when the change actually took place on the line. The production change was handled through a separate NPC (Notice of Production Change) system, as described in my A.I.M. paper at:

Hi Gary,

It may have been cut in earlier , but I have only seen it on two late cars. I know of a couple of real late unrestored cars and I will verify with the owners. Without data its only speculation. If I remember correctly our cars are nearly identical and perfect for the halloween season.

Below are pics of a bracket I have had for years. Possibility it came off my 9A of 69 Z in the 70's.
