One of a Kind 69-Z

RK Motors is advertising a 69 Dover White Z with Orange Houndstooth deluxe interior as a one of a kind car. Anyway to verify this claim?

Also saw that car at it's stunning, really neat color combination. Not sure how they determined it was one of one with no production numbers available on what color combos were sold and how many, maybe they are going on the premiss nobody has seen this color combination before so it must be fact..here is the link to the car:

That car sold at the last Mecum auction. Interesting color combo.

Seems odd that whoever ordered the car wanted deluxe interior, the woodgrain kit, counsol, an endura bumper, and D80. But then they forgot to check Z21. Weird.

I know of 2 other 69's that were that color combo - both X11 cars. Not sure either is restored at this point. This is the only Z I know of - but that's not their claim: "Featuring a 100% original powertrain, this 1969 Z/28 is a recipient of the Chevy Vettefest Gold Spinner Award, has been certified by Jerry MacNeish, and is believed to be the only Dover White and Orange houndstooth combo car left in existence."

Engine is a restamp. Interesting how they don't show Jerry's appraisal, but just the certificate.

Kurt you are right. I've been with Jerry many times when he looks at cars and there is  a long laundry list of wrong parts . There was a car just the fall carlisle with his cert. with plenty of wrong items that they didn't address

The owner claims there are two DZ engines for this car. Is the second engine as the owner claims? At 120K in pocket change I certainly hope so.

The first is a correct DZ code block that is currently installed in the car, and the second is the cars actual numbers matching ‘born with’ motor that has been professionally blue printed and restored by AMT Racing Engines."

The windlaces are orange on my original un-restored car....  but that car (and the color combo) IS gorgeous..

The text also provides some dates...  "Included in the sale is the cars completely blue printed and restored original block, that is stamped with a V0507DZ assembly date and decodes as follows: (V) Flint Michigan (05) May (07) the seventh day of the month and (DZ) which classifies the block as a ‘69 Z/28 exclusive 302 V8. The block is also branded with a 3970010 casting number which confirms its status as a 1969 302, and an E18 casting date code which translates as May (E) first (1) 1968 (. Stamped on the side of the block is the car’s partial VIN of 19N645163 which confirms that it is indeed the original block ."

1)  the '010 block casting didn't appear until sometime in '69 CY, so how could it have a casting date of 'E18'??  and isn't that a LOT early for an assembly date of 7 May 1969?  ie...     V0507DZ ... or perhaps it's a May 18 casting in '69? with the 9 somehow gone missing from the casting date?  and assembled 11 days before cast?

Yet the text says it's the original matching VIN derivative stamped into the block...?    Either I'm missing something, or this is a LOT strange?

In looking at the white/orange houndstooth car on that website, I also noticed other '69 Z28s..  including the daytona yellow / yellow houndstooth car from JoeVClayton Chevrolet in Arab AL.   I have an original (unrestored) orange/orange '69Z28/RS which also came from JoeVClayton, which I bought in 1976 here in Huntsville, AL.  Joe V Clayton (in Arab) was a 'high performance chevy cealer' in the north Alabama area at that time...  Within a few months of purchasing my orange/orange Z28 in 1976, I read an ad in the Huntsville Times for a '69 Z28.   I called about it and got an address.. and one weekend afternoon drove out to see it.  No one was home (a mobile home in the Hazel Green / Toney community).. but the car was there.. and I took the liberty of looking it over (with my orange/orange parked in the drive next to it)..     There is a STRONG possibility that this yellow / yellow at RK Motors is that same yellow/yellow car, as it is equipped the same and it also was from Joe V Clayton!   The condition was of course (used) but was very good condition for the time (no rust, nothing missing, etc)..  The PRICE was $1900 .... and I really wanted to buy it and probably would have if someone had been at home when I stopped by.. but when I went home and told my wife about it..  and that I wanted it..    She said .. "The CAR..  or ME"..   you get to choose!          Sometimes you win 'em..  sometimes you don't.

alot of casting dates are 9's that look like 8's
