LA/Norwood shipping

Is it correct to believe that van nuys cars were shipped generally to dealerships in the midwest and west coast, while Norwood coveredthe rest? Or did the cars go wherever according to supply and demand?

The reason I'm wondering, I live in Oklahoma and was thinking about applying for a title history. The application is only good for times it was registered in OK. My car is a Van Nuys, so if what I believe is true, the car was probably not first sold in my state, which would make a title history search pointless.

Pull a vehicle history report from the federal database. That report will list the first state and date it was titled in and any "brands" such as salvage or total loss that were assigned to that vin since its birth..

Good question... I have a Texas car myself and I was also planning to get a title history from the Texas DMV.
So I hope someone has an answer.

69 Pace, that's a MUCH better idea,thanx. 77Thor, the only clue I've found while restoring was in the a/c duct, an old S&H green stamp lol, and a prehistoric 1.50 drive-in theatre ticket to the APACHE THEATRE in TYLER TX. I may also have a Texas car. Lol anyone know how to read the area code on a GREEN STAMP lol???

as far as the S&H green stamps, my black 69 still has a bunch in the glove box still and and in the console (with vintage matchbooks). but I already know which wisconsin dealer my norwood car was shipped to, so I guess I have no mystery to solve with my S&H greenstamps.  darn.

On a serious note, a friend of mine has a car that was found 10 miles from baldwin chevrolet (orange 69 ss/rs L78), and its a october built LA built car.  That boggles my mind, that something shipped cross country to be used so far out east.  I guess it happened.  Car is in the midwest now.

Yeah that's crazy for a car to go the distance like that, and still be within 10 miles of Baldwin like that. Guess cars are only as nomadic as there owners right?! Sweet car to get ahold of for sure.

 Our 67 L-35 coupe was built at the Norwood Plant.  It was sold new at Central Chevrolet Company, Grand Junction, CO

 Wow, after today I realize that the plant the Camaro was built, has little to do with dealership.

And my 67 L-30 was built @ Van Nuys, shipped to and sold new at a Chevrolet dealership in Kansas City KS.

Shipping to specific regions would make economical sense.  But the same truck that took Camaros from LA to the midwest might have just finished hauling Chevelles from KC to California.  And let me just say though I am new to this site it is great to see Camaro enthusiasts helping each other out!

 Dave, that's very, very true,good point! Sometimes we forget there WAS other plants besides NORWOOD and LA right?! Also, over time I've had questions arise about the CAMARO, and many of them, no matter what restoration handbook, magazine,etc. I read., JUST NEVER DISCUSSED some of them! After less than a week on the CRG, all were answered in GREAT DETAIL. Thank God for this site!

Most of the vehicles would have been shipped via rail to a regional distribution center.
