Convertible Pump Wiring
« on: June 26, 2011, 04:08:05 PM »
I am troubleshooting my tops failure to move.  It would move fine and then stop about half way.  I would wait a few minutes, then it would operate again.  I am thinking the circuit breaker would reset.  Yesterday after it stopped, I could not really get it going again so I began trying to track down the culprit.  The pump motor operates sporadically.  So starting there I need to check if it operating even while no hooked to the hydraulic lines.

My question regards the wiring of the pump itself.  There are 3 leads, one of which is ground.  Does 12 volts on one lead spin the pump in one directions while 12 volts on the other lead spin it in the other?  Should I be able to test this on the bench?

Yep. Just put 12 Volts to the green wire to lower the top or 12 Volts to the red wire to raise the top. There's a complete troubleshooting procedure in the Fisher Body manual.
