Rubber plugs for under Camaro? Part # 4615576

I got these rubber inserts a long time ago. Looks like 4615576 is the part number. I think they are for under the car somewhere and if I remember correctly are very scarce and always missing. Under cowl rocker rubber?? I paid close to $150 for them and they are on my list of for sale items. Can anybody shed any light on this, so I can better explain to interested people what they are?...........Thanx....Danny

I doubt if the one's supplied from Rick's and elsewhere (repro's) have the part # so there are people who would pay for that but not sure how much as you did pay a handy sum. I was lucky that mine were still soft and pliable and are going back in the car. Not something anyone would really see or care about unless the car was on a lift and being judged IMHO. Put them on ebay and you will probably get your money back plus.

I was asked by one of our members in PM some questions about these rubber rocker drain flaps and the holes they go into... so I went down to my car and tried to make some photos.   I had to hold a light under the car, and photograph these *blind*.. although I could feel them by reaching under the rocker, I'd never seen them (Not even when I was under the car for a week or so cleaning the bottom a few years ago - I guess I didn't do very good at that, but now that I know they are there, I'll do a better job cleaning next time..

Anyway, since I don't know if I can send photos in a PM, I thought I'd search for an appropriate thread and post the pix there, and that is this thread began by Danny in 2011.   He some 'original' rubber plug/flaps he'd purchased in a swap meet (and I've no idea if he still has those or not).   

Attached below are photos from blindly photographing under the drivers and passenger sides of my car (not on a lift, sitting on the tires).  I found (from the photos) that on my drivers side, the 'flap portion' was missing, but on the passenger side it was intact.   That's good for what I wanted to show, as one can see the square hole the flap covers, as well as the flap in place from the two photos.  I didn't want to remove the plugs in fear of breaking off what was there...
PS.  I can't quite make out the PN, but there appears there might be a date code as well?  If these can be removed without damage (any ideas?), I could clean and make better photos?  Hopefully this helps my questioner and perhaps some others as well.
PPS.  I checked out the Rick's link posted in the 2011 thread, but the part seems to be no longer carried?

They are part of the "Flush and Dry" system (I'm sure you know Gary) and are probably one of the biggest reasons our rockers rot out. I don't know where he found them, but the guy that helped me with my panel replacement found a perfect set of OE inner/outer rockers. I was amazed. It seems like those are the first to go. My rubber flaps were good, so they'll go back on.

Even if the water is flushed out and air flows thru the rockers, it seems that dirt and things like pieces of leaves would accumulate in there. They then stay damp and eureka, rust!

Stuff does build up in the rockers but they are easy to clear with a shop vac at the rubber flap holes at the rear and a open ended air line ran down the cowl drops with cowl panel removed.

Re my Camaro, I'm pretty lucky Sarge..  it's always been in the north Alabama area, and was only 'on the road' for about 10 yrs (the last 4 of them in my charge), and for the 35 yrs since then it has been sitting in my basement garages.   Every last piece of metal, trim, vinyl top, interior and glass in my car is from the factory install... and zero rust anywhere!  The only parts I've had to replace thus far is some rubber parts, and I did change the hood insulation back in '76 when I bought it.

PS.  clarifying my above statement, I DID have to replace the pistons for course when I bored the engine 0.030 in 1976, and I installed the lightweight flywheel at that time.

Not all of us are that lucky  Northern cars that weren't in garages there whole life seem to all be rotted to death. Mine came off the road in ~'83 and look what I still had to do to that... I'd love to see yours. What a time capsule!

You're right..  I did forget the windshield, but I'm still not certain that the one in it wasn't original...  I don't *think* it was even with the '69 date, but I'm not certain?   (and it was in the car in '76)?..

Well you're certainly fortunate to have such an original car Gary, many (like mine) were used very hard in early life; rust and high miles were not the problem, serious drag racing took care of the originality!
