Oh Wow! Great footage! At 0:39 you can see one of the 1967 Camaro Cherokee show cars and it has Rally Wheels on it!  I wonder if racer Augie Pabst owned it at this point or was it still being used by GM.

A period television commercial to share this.  Done with lightly redecorated production cars with some quaint added effects, this would be a Schaefer Beer commercial from 1970 with cooperation from Autodynamics Corp.  The Lime Rock event was known for long as the Schaefer Trans Am, hence perhaps the venue where the commercial was produced is likewise Lime Rock?  A press kit photograph exists out there confirming involvement of the team, while some livery adds made to a street Challenger T/A enhance and/or muddle the illusion.  Finally, it's rather difficult imagining that the pitch line for the product being sold would be used so confidently today; i.e. "Schaefer Beer - for the more than one beer man...".  Exercising great restraint - I won't go there!  Ponder a view via:

More of a Ford thing as his life relates to the SCCA T/A series, but still of interest given images will pop up in other period Trans-Am features found here and there.  On January 5, 2011 Fran (Francisco) Hernadez passed away, while photos from a collection he maintained could be found scattered online and in-print for modest application in the wake of this news.  What I didn't know is that his sons Randy and Rick posted a photo collection as a memorial as legacy to him soon after his death, and that one might examine the collected images all in a go right to the present.  If intrigued, do consider visiting:

Clues as to coverage literally further afield, click on the link to review an article penned and afforded archival photographs by Dave Friedman for the British publication Motor Sport, this dating from their December 2004 issue.  Further down the page will be found a series of four or five story links to period reportage from the same title hinting at the value to be had for adding issues to any period Trans-Am themed collection.  Not a terrible use of time in total.  See then:

Rather than searching for scattered scans, it seems one can visit the FIA direct to download homologation papers via PDF without much trouble.  Do notice that the files commonly reflect successive updates tendered by manufacturers so-represented across months and years, while contrast that which you find to evolving Trans-Am and/or Group 2 regulations as necessary.  Another good tool to have then...

Sort of a referral this, a person named Michael Eisenberg has uploaded a comprehensive range of prerestoration and restoration in-progress pictures of the '71 Penske Donohue Trans-Am Javelin onto the Facebook Historic Pro Series SCCA Trans-Am Fan Group page.  It's an amazingly comprehensive sweep of all aspects of the car, wearing as it does the Jocko Maggiacomo livery it was last run in.  As time passes, one might still find said content for limiting a search closely tied to when this message and alert was posted.  Also, if all else fails, contact me for I downloaded all I may consistent with feeding my scale projects and research that informs such.  As I pen this, three specific posts have been uploaded by him containing multiple photos each.  Thanks...
