I need your help.
Please email if you have or know of a 1969 Convertible L78/L89 Camaro. I have some data already on about 11 Convertibles thus far.
I own a 1969 12B X66 L78 Conv Camaro plus 2 1968 L78's Camaro coupes. It is Rallye Green code 79 A. I also have a friend who owns a 1969 L34 November Rallye green Camaro Conv in Canada, almost a twin to mine. I think I remember reading somewhere that Gm was not keen to building these hi-perf. L78/L89 cars as Convertibles... maybe someone here at CRG can shed some light on this.
I started this registry to help certify and verify the 1969 convertible L78 Camaro's. L78s or big blocks as a whole would be too much for now. I believe there were far less L78 convertibles made than the 10% estimate... so I need and hope to substantiate that and this specific registry is one way that will help. So even if all you have is a window sticker or protect-o-plate, memory of, a wreck or junk, etc., etc... that information can be helpful data.
I want to help verify those who have real L78 cars with or without documentation, help with their history, etc... and also to help prevent the crooks from faking these cars... I have been looking at L78's since 1976 when I use to race them... but now with so much information already out I am afraid to share any additional knowledge that would allow for a fake car to be made.. However, I really think this can be a real added bonus to the history of the Camaro and to CRG if we can all come together and build this knowledge stronger and document those surviving cars.
Looking forward to hearing from you and if you have knowledge of other L78 cars please let me know. GI_ Joe
