Rear Emer. Brake brackets

Can anyone tell me how to make the cable stay in the E brake brakets that mount to the mounting plates. ?

When I put mine on I had to pinch it together just a little and it stayed. Take it I have not drove it yet so I might be in here asking the same question one day.

As noted in the Assembly Manual, the end of the bracket is to be crimped around the cable to retain it (UPC 5, sheet C2).
