Speaker ?
« on: May 12, 2011, 03:35:05 PM »
I've posted a couple of speaker pics. The first set are located in the kick panels and even though there is only one, both are identical.

The second set are from the rear. Obviously these are not original, that is unless Radio & Wheel Cover World in Sterling Heights Michigan was the supplier for the Van Nuys Plant. :-\ ??? Long shot, but maybe these guys refurbished them...

Can someone tell me...1, are the front speakers correct, & two...what would be the correct rear speakers. If you can, please post pics of the originals.

BTW, these are for a '69 AM/FM Blue Light Stereo.

Thanks in advance.

Your fronts aren't original, but your back's look correct. Radio & Wheel Cover World may have reconed your original, or maybe supplied another at some point.

I'm not sure they're still around, but here's a little different contact info than what's on the sticker:

Radio & Wheel Cover World

Sterling Heights, MI 48310

Great information Ed...

Actually it appears this company is still around but under a different name. The phone number on the red tag seems to be correct. According to their website, its the # to their sales dept. I tried both #'s listed but can't get through. I'll keep trying, hopefully its legit & I can shat with them awhile.

Here is what should up when I googled their company:

If anyone has the original front speakers, please post a pic or post the correct stamp/numbers.

Thank you for posting the # Ed. Unfortunately its to a personal residence/individual. I think you a correct, this company probably doesn't exist anymore. I tried the two numbers on the website and it seems to be an old number. Oh well...

James,

If you have the correct fronts please list the correct #. I know its a pain, but pics would be even better.

Correct. It's an AC Delco speaker, but for a 90's car and truck.

Can you read the part number on the rear? It looks like 7937455? If that's right, it's the correct 10 ohm speaker for the rear, but I don't know if that's the correct number for a 69 Camaro. Most of my references show 1970-1976 (but you can't always go by the years shown). However, that part number was superceeded by 16177769, which is still available from Chevrolet!

For the fronts (stereo), the AIM shows P/N 7311621 (Right) and 7311611 (Left). I also show that both of those part numbers were superceeded by 7303331. (No longer available from GM)

7937455 is the number on the speaker. Excellent news on the 16177769 available through Chevrolet! I will certainly pick up a set while I still can.

As for the fronts, I never thought to check the AIM...exactly what's printed. Did not know there was a left & right. I will keep these numbers on file. Who knows, maybe one will pop up. If so, can you tell me if these speakers can be reconditioned or re-coned?

I know this took some leg work/finger work...Much Appreciated Ed!

Yes, just about any speaker can be reconed. Do a Google search and find someone locally.
